Although first trimester abortion is legal throughout the US, a
number of US states have placed restrictions on minors' access to
abortion care. Many states have enacted "parental notification" or
"parental consent" laws. These restrictions are not related to
specific abortion procedures and apply to both medication abortion and
aspiration abortion methods.
