Are teenagers able to obtain a medication abortion in the US?

Although first trimester abortion is legal throughout the US, a number of US states have placed restrictions on minors' access to abortion care. Many states have enacted "parental notification" or "parental consent" laws.  These restrictions are not related to specific abortion procedures and apply to both medication abortion and aspiration abortion methods.

The Center for Reproductive Rights provides up-to-date information about state and federal legislation affecting reproductive rights. Ipas, the National Gay and Lesbian Taskforce, and SisterSong have also launched Mapping Our Rights, an interactive website dedicated to sexual and reproductive laws and policies in the US.
