Are unmarried women able to obtain a medication abortion in the United States?

Unmarried women are not restricted from obtaining abortion services in the United States and the consent of a husband or partner is not required in order to obtain abortion care. However, a number of US states restrict minors' access to abortion care (both medication and aspiration methods).

The Center for Reproductive Rights provides up-to-date information about state and federal legislation affecting reproductive rights. Ipas, the National Gay and Lesbian Taskforce, and SisterSong have also launched Mapping Our Rights, an interactive website dedicated to sexual and reproductive laws and policies in the US.
